Virtual Inspection
Make sure each video (one of each side) shows the side of the house in its entirety first, and then moving up close to the side and walking through to identify any openings. We want to see the vents and where they are located, and how accessible it is.
Allied Disaster Defense Wildfire Virtual Inspection Checklist
To ensure a thorough wildfire risk assessment, please follow the checklist below when recording videos of your home. Provide clear, steady footage of each specified area. This will help our team evaluate the vulnerabilities and offer recommendations for improving your wildfire defense.
1. Exterior Walls and Elevations
-
Record a full 360-degree video of the home’s exterior.
-
Focus on the walls, looking for any vents.
-
Pay special attention to attic vents (upper walls) and garage foundation vents (lower walls)
-
Ensure all sides of the house are clearly visible.
2. Roof and Gutter Guards
-
Capture video of the gutters (if installed).
-
Take a wide shot of the roofline to view roof vents, if possible.
3. Vegetation Around the Perimeter
-
Take a wide-angle video of the vegetation within 5 feet of your home.
-
Zoom in on any shrubs, trees, or plants that are particularly close to the walls.
-
Highlight areas with dry brush, mulch, or flammable materials close to the structure.
4. Decks, Patios, and Outdoor Structures
-
Film any decking, patio areas or jacuzzi’s, with particular focus on what lies underneath or around them.
-
Document any flammable items such as wood piles, furniture, or propane tanks near these areas.
5. Outbuildings or Detached Structures
-
If applicable, capture video of any detached garages, sheds, or other outbuildings on the property.
-
Ensure to record both the exterior and surrounding vegetation for these structures.
Tips for Filming:
-
Record videos during daylight for best visibility.
-
Keep the camera steady and focus on each section for 5-10 seconds.
-
Ensure all footage is clear and detailed, especially in areas with potential wildfire vulnerabilities.
Once you’ve captured all the videos, please upload them to the provided link or send them via email for our review. Our team will follow up with a comprehensive wildfire risk assessment and recommendations.
