Wildfire Prepared Home™ is the standard. We build your property to it.
The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety publishes the Wildfire Prepared Home standard: a research-based checklist of what a wildfire-ready home actually looks like. We align California estates to that standard, perform the work, and document every item.
What the IBHS standard requires.
Wildfire Prepared Home is built from post-fire research on why homes survive. It has two levels. The Base designation covers the ignition points that matter most. The Plus designation adds the larger structural upgrades.
Class A roof, ember-resistant vents or vent covers, noncombustible five-foot Zone 0, clean gutters or gutter protection, and no combustible items against the structure, including fences that touch the house.
Everything in Base, plus upgrades to decks, siding, and windows where exposure requires it, and defensible space maintained beyond Zone 0.
It is the framework insurers recognize. California’s Safer from Wildfires program mirrors its core measures, which makes documented alignment the strongest mitigation story a property can carry.
Assessed against the standard. Built to the standard.
Your risk profile scores the property against IBHS criteria and lists exactly which items pass and fail.
Failed items become a prioritized work plan: Base items first, Plus items where your exposure calls for them.
Our team performs the hardening and vegetation work to the standard’s specifications.
Every completed item is photographed and documented in your member file, and re-verified at your annual review.
Your risk profile already speaks IBHS.
The wildfire risk profile every member receives is scored against IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home criteria. Enter your property and see where you stand against the standard today.
Wildfire Prepared Home, answered.
What is the Wildfire Prepared Home designation?
A designation from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety confirming a home meets its wildfire preparedness standard. IBHS issues the designation directly after its own review. We prepare properties to the standard and document the work. We do not issue or guarantee the designation.
Does meeting the standard lower insurance premiums?
California’s Safer from Wildfires framework recognizes many of the same measures, and some carriers consider documented mitigation in underwriting. Decisions on coverage and pricing belong to each carrier. We provide the documentation and make no coverage promises.
What usually fails first on an estate?
Vents without ember protection, combustible material in the five-foot zone, mulch against the foundation, wood fences attached to the house, and debris-holding gutters. Most are correctable quickly once identified.
Is the standard worth pursuing on a large property?
Yes, because the standard concentrates on the structure and the ground immediately around it. On large parcels we combine it with defensible space and, at the Prep & Go level, retardant treatment across the wider defense layers.
